MSI-D Series Linear Position Sensor with SSI Output
Rod-style, high-precision, absolute, non-contact magnetostrictive position sensor with remote electronics, featuring a measuring range from 25 to 3800 mm.
Position measurement is performed using ring-type position magnets that move along the waveguide without physical contact.
The sensor flange is made of high-quality stainless steel and is designed for long-term industrial operation.

Design features
- Modular design allows fast replacement without depressurizing the hydraulic circuit
- The sensor consists of two parts: the sensor electronics and the waveguide are separated by a distance of up to 350 mm for bottom connection and up to 600 mm for side connection.
- Compatible with all Temposonics position magnets and selected BALLUFF magnets
- Zero position offset of 50 mm, 30 mm, or customer-specific value
- Absolute linear measurement (output signals proportional to magnet displacement)
- LED status indicator for diagnostics
- High accuracy: resolution up to 1 µm
- Measuring length from 25 to 3800 mm (1 mm increments)

Channel 1 reads the clock signal "Clock (+)" Channel 2 reads the binary code "Data (+)" The interval between two transmissions (Monoflop time) is 16 microseconds. This performance corresponds to Temposonics V series sensors. As a result, our sensors are compatible with all controllers currently available on the market.** |

Setting
When replacing a failed sensor, recalibration of the equipment is required in most cases. This can be done in two ways:
- If the customer’s machine has a calibration function, after replacing the sensor, the operator assigns the new end positions to the machine’s control system by moving the mechanism in manual mode.
- Using the MSI-253 135 programmer, the new zero point value can be programmed directly into the sensor. The procedure is similar to the first method, but in this case, the value is assigned to the sensor rather than to the customer’s machine.
